Beginning from Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, the trail takes you through sacred ghats, exile sites, and spiritual temples in India before leading to Sri Lanka, where Sita was held captive and Ravana’s legacy still echoes through temples, caves, and hills. From the Saryu Aarti in Ayodhya to the mystical Ram Setu at Rameshwaram, and from Hanuman temples in Sri Lanka to Ravana’s caves in Ella, this 22-day journey blends devotion, mythology, history, and breathtaking landscapes. Ideal for spiritual seekers, heritage lovers, families, and cultural explorers.
Day 1: Delhi → Ayodhya
Depart from Delhi by cab for a full-day journey to Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama. On arrival, visit the sacred Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan, and Saryu Ghat. As the evening sets in, witness the mesmerizing Saryu Aarti, where lamps illuminate the river and chants fill the air, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

Day 2: Ayodhya Exploration
Spend the day at leisure exploring the holy city further. Visit local temples, vibrant bazaars, and experience the deep-rooted spiritual essence of Ayodhya. This flexible day allows devotees to connect personally with the city’s heritage and rituals.

Day 3: Ayodhya → Prayagraj
Drive to Prayagraj, the sacred city where Rama performed rituals at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Visit Triveni Sangam for a holy dip, Bharadwaj Ashram, and the ancient Hanuman Temple. In the evening, witness the devotional Ganga Aarti, a serene experience by the riverbanks.

Day 4: Prayagraj → Shringverpur
Proceed to Shringverpur, where Rama crossed the Ganga with the help of Nishadraj. Visit Shringverpur Ghat and Nishadraj Temple, soaking in the legend of brotherhood and loyalty that marks this spot.

Day 5: Shringverpur → Chitrakoot
Drive to Chitrakoot, the land where Lord Rama spent years of exile. Explore Ramghat, Kamadgiri Hill, and the Bharat Milap Temple, where Bharat met Rama and sought his return to Ayodhya. This town echoes with spiritual chants and timeless devotion.

Day 6: Chitrakoot → Sitamarhi
Continue your journey to Sitamarhi, revered as the birthplace of Goddess Sita. Visit the sacred Janaki Temple, offering prayers at the shrine dedicated to Mata Sita, honoring her divine role in the Ramayana.

Day 7: Sitamarhi → Nashik (via Lucknow flight)
Travel to Lucknow for a connecting flight to Nashik. Explore Panchavati, where Sita was abducted by Ravana. Visit Sita Gufa, Tapovan, and Kalaram Temple. This sacred town highlights one of the most pivotal moments of the Ramayana.

Day 8–9: Nashik → Hampi
Fly to Belgaum and drive to Hampi, the mythical Kishkindha kingdom of Sugreeva and Hanuman. Over two days, visit Anjaneya Hill, Pampa Sarovar, Virupaksha Temple, Lotus Mahal, Elephant Stables, and Matanga Hill. In the evening, join a heritage walk in Hampi, discovering myths interwoven with ruins.

Day 10: Hampi → Bhadrachalam
Travel to Bhadrachalam, home to the famous Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple. Explore Parnasala, take a serene Godavari River cruise, and if time permits, visit Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary. Optional rituals like Abhisekham and Sita Rama Kalyanam (seasonal) are available for devotees.

Day 11: Bhadrachalam → Kanchipuram
Drive to Kanchipuram, one of India’s oldest temple towns. Visit Kailasanathar Temple, Varadharaja Perumal Temple, and Kamakshi Amman Temple. Explore traditional silk weaving workshops and, if the timing aligns, witness vibrant temple festivals.

Day 12: Kanchipuram → Rameshwaram
Journey to Rameshwaram, where Lord Rama built the legendary Ram Setu. Visit Ramanathaswamy Temple, Agnitheertham, Jatayu Tirtham, and Villoondi Tirtham. These holy sites are among the most sacred in India’s pilgrimage circuit.

Day 13: Rameshwaram → Dhanushkodi → Madurai
Travel to Dhanushkodi, the ghost town and viewing point of Ram Setu. Visit Arichal Munai, the exact point believed to be where Rama’s army built the bridge to Lanka. In the evening, enjoy storytelling sessions by the beach. Continue onward to Madurai for the night.

Day 14: Madurai → Colombo
Fly to Colombo, marking the start of the Sri Lankan Ramayana trail. Visit Panchaamuga Anjaneyar Temple, Kelaniya Temple, Vibhishana Temple, and Gangaramaya Temple. End the day with a local dinner and rest in Colombo.

Day 15: Colombo → Munneshwaram → Manavari → Anuradhapura
Travel to Munneshwaram and Manavari Temples, where Lord Rama installed lingams. Later, visit the sacred city of Anuradhapura, famous for its ancient stupas and the revered Bodhi Tree.

Day 16: Anuradhapura → Trincomalee → Habarana
Head to Trincomalee to explore Thirukoneswaram and Shankari Devi Temples, followed by the therapeutic Kanniya Hot Springs. Continue to Habarana for the evening.

Day 17: Habarana → Kandy
En route to Kandy, optionally climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Visit Nalanda Gedige Temple, a unique Indo-Sri Lankan heritage site, and the sacred Temple of the Tooth.

Day 18: Kandy → Ramboda → Nuwara Eliya
Travel through the Ramboda Valley, visiting Hanuman Temple and Ramboda Falls. Explore a tea factory before reaching Nuwara Eliya, often called ‘Little England,’ with colonial charm.

Day 19: Nuwara Eliya → Ella → Kataragama
Drive to Ella, visiting Divurumpola Temple, Ravana Cave, and Ravana Falls. Later, head to Kataragama, a sacred town with temples dedicated to Lord Murugan, Sita, and Hanuman.

Day 20: Kataragama → Galle → Colombo
Visit Usangoda Plateau, linked to Hanuman’s path, then continue to explore Galle Fort, Rumassala Hill, and enjoy a Madu River Cruise before relaxing at Bentota Beach. Return to Colombo by evening.

Day 21: Colombo Exploration
Spend the day exploring Colombo’s highlights – the Red Mosque, Fort, Pettah Bazaar, Lotus Tower, and local markets for shopping and food.

Day 22: Departure from Colombo
Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your return flight. End of the Ramayana Trail pilgrimage.
